Prevent Removal of Eagle Scout projects at Mary Mother of God parish
The Issue
I am deeply saddened and frustrated as one of the Eagle Scouts whose project is going to be removed. My project, which was a labor of love and dedication, is a prayer garden for the unborn at Mary Mother of God parish in White Oak, PA. This garden features a bench and an array of prayers for individuals to gather, reflect, and pray. It also includes a beautifully constructed retaining wall and landscaping.
Unfortunately, the parish has made a decision to remove not just my project, but several Eagle Scout projects to make way for a new parking lot. This decision was taken without consulting or informing the parishioners. Many of these projects, like mine, hold significant personal and communal value, serving as a testament to our faith and dedication.
Eagle Scout projects are meant to benefit the community and stand the test of time as symbols of hard work, commitment, and community spirit. Removing them undermines the very principles they are built upon. There has been no transparent communication or consideration of the impact this removal would have, not only on the Scouts who led these initiatives but also on the parishioners who donated towards the construction of these projects and use them.
In a world where community bonds are precious, I urge the decision-makers at Mary Mother of God parish to reconsider. There are alternatives to addressing parking needs without removing the hard-earned contributions of young Scouts who aspired to make a difference.
I call upon fellow parishioners and community members to stand with us in preserving these meaningful projects. Let us voice our concern and aim for a solution that honors our past efforts while looking to the future. We need your support to ensure our voices are heard and our community spaces are preserved. Please sign this petition to prevent the removal of these cherished projects.
