As a concerned parent in Romford, I am deeply worried about the safety of our children if Lorraine Brooks is made redundant from her role as our lollipop lady. The only reason I let my daughter walk to school is knowing that Mrs. Brooks is there at the end of her journey. She looks out for every child not just crossing the road but knows what children should be waiting or who’s parents are on their way.

Mrs. Brooks is more than just a lollipop lady; she's a vital part of our community who knows all the children by name and ensures their safety on an extremely dangerous road daily. Her potential redundancy puts many children at risk, as they depend on her guidance to cross this hazardous road safely.

According to Road Safety GB, pedestrian casualties peak at school starting and finishing times; 23% occur during these hours (Road Safety GB). Without Mrs.Brookes' vigilant presence during these crucial times, we fear for an increase in such incidents in our area.

We understand that budget cuts may necessitate difficult decisions but we believe that child safety should never be compromised under any circumstances.

We urge those responsible to reconsider this decision and keep Mrs.Brooks in her position as lollipop lady for the sake of all our children's safety and wellbeing.
