Oreo, a loving pitbull, suffered unimaginable neglect and abuse at the hands of his previous owner. Left to die in an empty apartment, Oreo was confined within a small crate, forced to endure starvation, and surrounded by his own waste. This heart-wrenching incident occurred until the building owner discovered him in this appalling condition and reached out to Pitbull and Addicts. This rescue organization immediately took action and saved Oreo from his distressing situation.

Since then, Pitbull and Addicts have been providing Oreo with the care, love, and rehabilitation he desperately needed. With their attention and dedication, Oreo has slowly begun to heal from his traumatic past. However, a new threat has emerged - the man who abandoned Oreo wants him back, and demanding Pitbulls and Addicts to pay $7000 to regain custody of the dog. This situation is distressing on many levels. Despite the clear evidence of neglect and abuse, the previous owner has gone so far as to file a lawsuit against Pitbull and Addicts, demanding Oreo’s return.

It is unconscionable that a person who demonstrated such severe cruelty and neglect towards an innocent animal would want to regain custody, let alone be given a chance to do so through legal means. Allowing Oreo to be returned would not only put him in harm’s way once again but would also send a terrifying message that animal abuse has no real consequences.

We urge the judicial system to protect Oreo’s well-being by ensuring he remains with Pitbull and Addicts, a shelter that continues to provide him the care and compassion he needs to recover and thrive. Companion animals cannot speak for themselves and rely on us to ensure their safety and well-being.
