After a NATO-summit just 2 days before I wrote this, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, made a terrifying statement during a press conference. He doesn’t rule out sending NATO-troops to Ukraine to prevent Russia from winning the war. As of the day I’m writing this, the 27th of february 2024, there is no consensus yet among NATO-member-states whether this should be done or not, but once they all agree to send troops, NATO will be at war with Russia in a dumb & destructive gamble to defeat Russia in Ukraine.

When that happens, the use of nuclear weapons will be likely, in which almost every city in the world can become a target of such a strike, often with just minutes to seek shelter. The use of these weapons can easily lead to a nuclear Holocaust, with hundreds of millions of people dying around the world. There is also a major risk of other parties getting involved, like China, India, Pakistan, Israel, Iran and many more. Many dozens, if not more, millions of soldiers, including people who are forced to be conscripts, lacking experience. They could be your brother, father, son, husband or wife, your sister, daughter, girlfriend or mother. They could be you. Soldier or not, world war III will not end in 1 party winning, as in world war II, but it will almost certainly cause civilization as we know it to collapse. The damage to cities, villages, agriculture and nature, among almost everything we know, will be unprecedented. NATO can’t win a war against Russia, neither can Russia win a war against NATO. Those who survive will fight for the last resources to not starve to death.

Please don’t think I don’t wanna help the Ukrainian people. Just realize that NATO doesn’t know what would happen when NATO troops attack Russian forces. They do know however that a nuclear confrontation is very likely. That won’t protect or help any Ukrainian man, woman or child. Furthermore, it will endanger the lives of all people in the world and despite living in a democracy that’s a member-state of NATO, I still don’t get to vote what kind of future I want. Only our leaders and NATO can make that decision. It’s a cynical game for them, a power move, but it’s an illusion. They’re trapped in a way of thinking that this will restore NATO’s reputation, while in reality, it will lead to catastrophe. Whether you live in Russia or Ukraine, in Belgium or South Africa, in the USA or China, let’s make sure those leaders won’t decide our future for us. Before it’s too late.
