Our Forres Community Centre is more than just a building. It is where toddlers take their first steps in toddler classes, where kids find joy in after-school sports clubs and trampolining, where people of all ages explore new hobbies like pickleball and circus skills, and where all can enjoy a good lunch or quietly immerse in a book from our library. Such richness in experiences is being threatened by the potential closing of our centre by the inept Moray Council.

This centre is an indispensable part of the Forres community and its surrounding areas. It caters to a wide range of needs and interests, not just serving as a hub for learning and fitness, but equally as a place of comfort and social interaction. Clearly, the centre is well-utilised, being fully booked on most occasions. It’s s huge benefit to the physical and mental health of those who use it, and prevents people from feeling isolated by supporting them to join local groups. 

Closing this facility would represent a huge loss to our community. We urge the Moray Council to reconsider their plan in light of the immeasurable social and economic benefits the centre provides to Forres and surrounding communities.
