Prevent Missouri From Putting Abortion Back on the Ballot

Prevent Missouri From Putting Abortion Back on the Ballot
The Issue
My name is Amanda and my son is a living testament to the lifesaving power of abortion. I was 36 weeks and 6 days pregnant when my life and the life of my son who was very much wanted hung in the balance. Diagnosed with gestational diabetes and severe pre-eclampsia, my doctor informed me that my liver enzymes were the highest he had seen in 20 years. If I hadn't received an induction abortion when I did, both my son and I would have perished. There are also many women who are not able to carry a pregnancy that far because it could mean thier life if they tried. Do not let the republican politicians put the women you know in your life in danger.
The importance of having access to abortion cannot be overemphasized. It's critical in cases like mine, where it's not just about choice, but about life or death. But now, the state of Missouri is threatening to put abortion back on the ballot - a move that could potentially ban abortions and endanger the lives of many women and their babies.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, in 2017, 75% of abortion patients in the U.S. were low-income. For many of these patients, abortion restrictions mean not just limited access, but possibly no access at all. Women don't opt for abortion lightly. Often, it is the last and only option. Such a decision should be between a woman and her doctor, not mandated by politicians.
We call on the lawmakers of Missouri to consider the true impact of their actions: lives in grave danger. Please do not put abortion back on the ballot. Instead, protect the health, lives, and rights of women in Missouri. Please sign this petition to urge our lawmakers to keep abortion accessible for those who need it.
