Prevent Michael Vick from Becoming Norfolk State's Head Coach

The Issue

I, like many others, am deeply concerned about the prospect of Michael Vick being appointed as the head coach at Norfolk State. Once convicted for running a major dogfighting operation and the brutal mistreatment of animals, Vick's actions showed a lack of respect for all living creatures. Such a person should not be entrusted with the responsibility of moulding young minds in any type of leadership role.

It is absolutely alarming that a man who pleaded guilty to federal felony charges in 2007, resulting in a 21-month prison sentence for horrific animal abuse, is even being considered for such an influential position in our society. This is a role that requires moral integrity, empathy, and respect, qualities that Vick's past behavior puts into question.

For Norfolk State, a respected educational institution that plays a significant role in nurturing and developing the future leaders of our country, having a man with such a disreputable past assumes the helm would be a massive step backwards.

We must consider the message it sends to our young adults - that animal abuse can be overlooked if one is gifted or successful in other fields? Is this the lesson we want our future generations to learn? I say no.

Therefore, it is time we oppose this potential appointment. By signing this petition, each of us can voice our protest against Michael Vick's appointment. We can safeguard the morality and integrity of our educational institutions, and uphold just and ethical values in our society. Please sign this petition and support this cause.
