Prevent Low-Income Housing Authority Projects in Sandcastle South Resort and Surrounding Areas

Prevent Low-Income Housing Authority Projects in Sandcastle South Resort and Surrounding Areas

The Issue

This is more than a housing issue. This is about preserving the peace, tranquility, and lifestyle that we, as homeowners and investors in the Sandcastle South Resort, envisioned when we bought our properties. Nestled at 2207 S. Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 and the encompassing Grand Strand area, our resort is more than a mere location. It is a home for business travelers who come with their families for a well-deserved vacation while they work, and a place of rest for traveling nurses who put their lives on the line in area hospitals. With winter, it becomes a haven for snowbirds seeking the warmth and vibrancy of our community.

Introducing low-income Housing Authority projects, such as Project-Based Housing with Choice Voucher Programs including Section 8 Housing, could significantly alter the nature of our community. We fear that with this comes a new set of complex challenges, including crime, that could disrupt our peaceful haven.

While we affirm the need for low-income housing, we believe there are alternative places to locate these communities which will better accommodate the needs and support structures required by residents of these programs. Let our resort remain as a testament to the hard work and dedication of homeowners who sought a serene and secure place to relax and rejuvenate.

Stand with us to prevent this detrimental transformation of our beloved home. Your support matters in sending a clear message to town officials that the Sandcastle South Resort, and its surrounding areas, should retain their current status. Sign the petition today.
