I am an alumnus of St. Joseph's Academy, Dehradun where the government is planning to acquire the school ground for constituting parking spaces. This ground is of prime significance, not only to the current students but also to the future generations of the school. It is the place where our children run their first race, play their first team sport, and learn the importance of physical education in holistic development. Not to belittle the emotions of number of leaders, national and international who have been groomd in the same ground. Members of the Armed Forces, Politicians, Entrepreneurs, Bureaucrats, Medical professionals, CEOs etc etc have all been created here where some cars are expected to stand.

Dehradun, often dubbed as India's 'Education Hub', has seen an alarming rise in urbanization and unplanned infrastructure growth. While it is understood that the city requires additional parking spaces, it should not be at the cost of our children's playgrounds. Based on a 2016 report by UNESCO, physical education significantly contributes to children's well-being, and it is integral to a quality education. Our school ground in Dehradun should not be taken away. It is part of our community's heritage and a necessary component for our children's education.

For the future of our students, our institution and preserving the title of 'Education Hub', we ask the government to reconsider its decision and explore other viable options for parking facilities.
