Prevent David Lloyd from removing our prime tennis courts!

The Issue

Since the takeover of David Lloyd, we have seen dramatic changes to our beloved club Wickwoods.

Recently, it has been announced that DL is looking to install padel courts at the club to entice new members and give more options at the club.

Wickwoods has a very strong tennis community that already struggles even to get courts. With this new idea of padel, it is being put forward that Wickwoods will lose their 2 most unique and stunning tennis courts which are overlooked by the bar/terrace.

Members agree that the installation of padel courts would be excellent but not at the cost of losing existing tennis court space. Have them fitted in another space or not at all. We want to keep our tennis courts and social network and feel we will lose lots of members/team tennis as the courts will be REDUCED by 25%. Imagine a summer where there are only 2 outside courts... I, as well as others, love these courts.

We don't want eye sores from cubes/cages whilst enjoying refreshments and listening to the noise of glass walls being hit repeatedly less than 5m from where we are sitting listening to the birds.

This decision is nothing short of delusional and contradictory. How, in any way, can it dramatically free up the existing shortage of tennis courts when 2 of the tennis courts are going to be removed?

Thanks for your support, from a long-standing member.
