I am a concerned resident of Wetaskiwin County, Pigeon Lake, Falun, and the neighboring areas. For years, my family, friends, and neighbors have thrived in this community, appreciating the serene environment and special sense of safety that our homes provide. Unfortunately, this special atmosphere that we cherish is currently under threat due to the proposed construction of data centers in the area.

Data centers, by their nature, consume significant amounts of energy, generate noise pollution, and occupy considerable land space. The necessary infrastructure and environmental changes accompanying the construction of such facilities threaten not only the tranquility of our neighborhoods but also our local ecosystems. Given their massive energy demands, these centers contribute to escalating carbon emissions, posing a further risk to our environment.

Our area is primarily residential and rural, and introducing industrial-scale operations like data centers would irrevocably alter its character. The traffic, noise, and visual impact are antithetical to the peaceful lifestyle we chose when we planted our roots here.

They require highly specialized personnel for construction and maintenance, often brought in from outside the community, leaving local job seekers excluded and our community without real economic growth.
