I encourage you to send emails to City Council. Below is the email I sent to each member.

To say last night was VERY disappointing, is an understatement.
There are known & proven dangers with data centers for the surrounding community in a residential agricultural area. Yet, you have chosen to disregard the factual concerns of the community.
When the Council was given the opportunity to ask Compass questions, Doris asked about the health concerns that the community has, Brent answered about the equipment they use.... He did NOT answer the question.
Not a single council member asked a follow up question....
Wasson asked about infrastructure costs, Brent answered they will pay for all costs.
Mayor asked about electric bills going up, Brent answered our energy bills will not increase.
Johnson had to educate Compass on power consumption... Brent then went on to say he couldn't speak for Duke Power...
Yet, you approved anyhow.
What measures are going to be in place to ensure that Compass honors the above?
Is the Statesville City Council going to require the completion of noise, light and pollution studies prior to both the start of construction and the issuance of a certificate of occupancy?
Data Centers may be new to Statesville, but there are several states that have been down this route already. Due to that, there are studies of the impact data centers have on the land & community. Below is an excellent video of the dangers:

Ask yourself this, if this is such a great thing for Statesville, then why were only the few property owners notified. It was stated last night by Compass that they have been working with Duke Power for months. And what about the emails that Sheila Shuford mentioned last night as well. The City has known as well.
I pray this email will make you stop for a moment, reflect on how big of a decision this is for the community and reconsider.
Sincerely,
Deidra Pickens
