Having personally witnessed the deterioration of London under the reign of Mayor Sadiq Khan, I, alongside countless others, call into question the suitability of awarding Mr. Khan a Knighthood. Living and working in this once vibrant city, it's heartbreaking to see the significant decline in quality of life, socio-economic equity, and safety. According to Metropolitan Police crime data reports, crime rates have escalated in London since Mr. Khan took office, which sadly captures just one facet it of the issues under his administration. Another area of concern, Transport for London's growing deficit, projected to be over £1bn by the end of 2022, as per reports from London's City Hall.

Moreover, the rich tradition of a Knighthood is imbued with honor and valor—qualities seemingly absent from Mr. Khan's tenure. To bestow a Knighthood on him would not only be deeply incongruous but would also offend the grandeur and dignity of such a privileged title. We urge the Honours and Appointments Secretariat to consider these facts and the voices of Londoners when evaluating Mr. Khan's eligibility for a Knighthood.
