As a concerned Canadian citizen, I am deeply troubled by the potential loss of our national sovereignty in health emergency preparedness and response. This concern stems from the upcoming vote in May, where countries will decide whether to grant the World Health Organization (WHO) total control over these critical areas both domestically and globally.

I am a woman that had three ectopic pregnancies and they would have killed me had the World Health Organization had control over abortions for example and my children would have no mother. If you are a woman that has children would you want your children to grow up without a mother had you had an ectopic pregnancy with the World Health Organization in charge saying you're going to die because your rights are ripped away and that's that? If we continue supporting an organization that could potentially undermine our nation's ability to independently manage health emergencies, we risk losing more than just funds; we risk losing our freedom.

It is essential that we retain control over decisions that directly affect us as Canadians. We must not allow international bodies like WHO to dictate how we prepare for or respond to health emergencies within our borders.
