We are witnessing innocent Palestinians die every day, and as Americans, we feel compelled to speak out. This issue is personal to us because it involves a figure who has been instrumental in shaping our understanding of activism - James Baldwin.

James Baldwin was not just an author; he was a vocal supporter of Palestinian liberation and staunchly anti-capitalist. His work has laid the groundwork for countless activists fighting for Palestine today. It is therefore deeply disrespectful that Billy Porter - an individual who supports Zionism and willfully turns a blind eye to the plight of Palestinians - is set to co-write and star in a film about Baldwin.

This isn't just about casting; it's about preserving the integrity of Baldwin's legacy. A legacy that stands against oppression, injustice, and inequality – principles that are diametrically opposed to Zionism's oppressive policies towards Palestinians.

We believe that allowing Porter – an open supporter of Zionism – to portray such an iconic figure would be akin to distorting history itself. The Hollywood machine should not be allowed to exploit Baldwin’s legacy for profit while disregarding his fundamental beliefs.

We urge those involved in this project reconsider their decision on ethical grounds. Let us honor James Baldwin by ensuring his story is told by someone who truly understands his struggle against oppression.
