Prevent APARC from closure-Airdrie's only pound

The Issue

I will never forget the day I found my beloved cat through APARC. It was a warm and magical experience, one that wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable service this pound delivers. From rescuing stray pets to finding them loving homes, APARC has breathed life into our community over the last five years. This personal tale is one among hundreds, as APARC has also connected countless other Airdrie residents with their precious, lost pets.

However, APARC is under threat. The city of Airdrie has decided against renewing the pound's contract, condemning it to potential closure. This decision doesn't only threaten the continuity of APARC, but it threatens the lives of innocent animals who are given a second chance here and also risks leaving lost pets unrecovered.

The closure of APARC would mean the end of Airdrie's only pound, leaving the city’s homeless animals with no place to turn to. These animals, innocent as they are, deserve better. We, the people who have found joy, companionship and community through APARC's services, have a responsibility to stand firm in support of its survival.

The city should reconsider its decision. The presence of a local pound not only serves a key community function, but it also stands as a testament to our values and commitment to animals' welfare. The continuation of APARC holds meaning for both its community of tireless, passionate workers and the many families across Airdrie whose lives have been touched by pets rescued or recovered here.

Let us band together to save APARC, save our community's lost and stray pets, and promote a future where every animal gets the care and the second chance it deserves. Please, sign this petition. Your signature signifies your support for this cause, your love for these animals, and our collective plea for reconsideration from the city.
