Good evening,

Two weeks ago the petition began and we now stand on the cusp of 2,500 signatures. Thank you to everyone who has signed and as importantly shared the word about it too.

We continue to see people come forward and back the petition, this week we've reported on Preston music legend Gordon Gibson of Action Record giving his thoughts on the importance of a major venue for the city - some stirring words.

Preston Probus Club have also been encouraging their members to sign the petition and spread the word too, they organise social meetups and trips for retired and semi-retired people in the city.

And this evening we have a guest opinion piece from Tony Rigg of the Lancashire Music Association, the music guru gives his thoughts on what could be a way forward.

We also saw announced this week major government funding for the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Not in the exact same situation as the Guild Hall it's interesting because of the significant millions being pumped in by the government, how it is bringing the public and private sector to invest, the Prime Minister himself leveraging behind the plan and also the venue being adapted to be 'more flexible' so the capacity and production space can go up and down depending on the type of event behind held. Food for thought for Preston, and also shows why this petition and campaign is crucial - the Department of Culture, Media and Sport will have been crucial in that plan. What support can they give Preston?

Please keep sharing the petition and thanks for all your support.
