Pressure Parliament to Make the Sex Offenders Registry public
The Issue

Parliament is more touchable than you think.
The National Sex Offenders Registry is still confidential/unavailable to the public. South Africa faces femicide of women and children each day and yet, we still have no version of Emma's Law. A law in the US that allows civilians to see if there is a violent sex offender living in their area.
Our court systems do not punish sex offenders accordingly. The worst that many of them see, are just slaps on the wrists by the justice system and difficulties finding work with a criminal record, however they still roam free and pose a danger to women and children.
Offenders of sexual assault, violence and rape are not punished as they should with prison terms and are highly likely to reoffend, this is a time and time again proven fact.
Reoffending rates of rapes and sexual violence from previous offenders in South Africa sits at 80%, meaning if the registry were public, we'd have over 50% less sexual violence against women if predators/offenders were publicly known. Those are women and children that would still be here today if offenders were made known with their pictures up on the news and internet rather than their victims whose lives were cut short violently.
It is our duty as men and women of South Africa to protect our girls, women and children from these individuals roaming free from our broken justice system. Have these individuals be known for their crimes at the least and not their victims be the only ones whose names are known to the public.
Citizens deserve to know who is a danger around their children, their mothers, sisters and nieces if the police and justice system continue to choose to let offenders bury their crimes.
Spread the word far and wide, forward it to known government officials in the area and mount pressure to make South Africa safer.
I say again: Parliament is a lot more touchable than you may think. Their buildings have addresses and their members have names. There are roads to lead you there to put that pressure on, and yes, it's entirely legal to do so.
