Help stop San Jacinto Cemetery's strict, biased regulations on how we can grieve on site!
The Issue
HELP STOP THE SAN JACINTO CEMETERY’S STRICT AND BIASED CONTROL ON HOW WE CAN AND ARE ALLOWED TO GRIEVE!!!
It has forcefully come to our attention that, as a grieving mother of a murdered son, new and biased stipulations have been placed within the cemetery grounds our loved ones are buried at. These new ‘stipulations’ are now taking away not only our freedoms of how one can grieve for their loved ones, but strangling our religion grievance practices as well as commonplace activities that are , for the most part, part of our grievance and therapeutic practices. We have now been told that we can no longer have lunch at our deceased family members gravesite, can no longer clean our loved one’s headstone vicinity without being fined for it, can no longer have solar lights in place (since no adequate lighting is in place to begin with, raising safety issues as well), decorations are now limited to the 8 inch vase in the center of the plot, no more outlandish decorations because, and I quote, “makes it look like a circus”, and many, many more traditional family activities many families are accustomed to.
It also seems as if we are being targeted, because in fact we actually are. These ‘new stipulations’ have ONLY been posted on our side of the cemetery, and when I say ‘our’, I mean the side that has the most murders and homicides out of the cemetery, The other ‘sides’ of the cemetery have no postings listed, and this has even been brought up in the recent board of directors cemetary meeting, to no avail. We even mentioned that we paid for the plot, in which the cemetery stated, and I quote, “The plot you purchased is yours, however the grass above it is ours”. This is unlawful and downright biased segregation, and needs to be stopped. But our voice is not strong enough, and that’s where we need your help.
If you don’t believe this is fair practice, and also agree that these traditional family practices shouldn’t be forcefully stopped, please sign this petition and join the many others that don’t agree with these ‘new’ regulations put in place. Hopefully, with a strong enough voice we can overturn these ‘newfound’ regulations.
