Pratidin Time, a channel which gained infamy for it voyeuristic piece which compared women in shorts with monkeys, is yet to learn it's lessons.

Pratidin Time is at it again.

Pratidin Time had telecasted an assamese puff-piece poem by Pranab Kumar Barman on its channel dedicated to Sarbananda Sonowal, where the poet laments about social ills, among which are women and girls who arrive late at night.

The channel had previously gained infamy for voyeurism and slut-shaming girls with "short dresses" and comparing them with monkeys. The link to that video is here-

This time, Pratidin Time has a poem.

3:02 into the poem, it is accompanied by clips, showing girls in "outrageous dresses". The verses complain about the moral corruption of women and girls is accompanied by clips of girls dancing in nightclubs, exiting parties and women in short clothes in general.


The lessons of the last incident involving Pratidin Time, where Pratidin Time reporter Hemen Rajbongshi did a "news piece" that concluded that dressed up monkeys have more decency than "scantily dressed" women, are clearly yet to learnt.

If this is not put a stop to, the regressive groups in our masses will find further encouragement to profess their patriarchial and chauvinistic narrative.

I, on behalf of people with better sense in India, request the Press Council of India and the Ministry of Information And Broadcasting to take note and pursue the necessary actions against Nitumoni Saikia and Pratidin Time to curb this intellectual regression.
