President Zuma of South Africa, please send MORE military into national parks to protect wildlife from poachers.

RHINOS HAVE BEEN WALKING THIS EARTH  FOR OVER 10 MILLION YEARS, BUT THAT CAN COME TO AN END IN LESS THAN 10 YEARS IF WE IGNORE THE FACTS.

They are of no threat to other animals as their diet consist of plants, yet humans have become their worst enemy.    If we go back to 2000, only 7 rhinos were poached, but every year since then, the staggering number of poached rhinos have increased, up to 668 in 2012.  This year, the stats are expected to drastically exceed that number.

They are being killed because the Chinese, Vietnamese and others believe the horn has medicinal properties, such as a cure for cancer, fever,  and if you can believe this....sexual malfunctions and even hangovers.  It has been proven time and time again that this belief is only a myth.  It is not helpful for human consumption at all as the horn is nothing more than keratin, the same substance found in our hair and finger/toe nails.

IT IS FEARED THAT IN 10 YEARS OR LESS! THE RHINOS OF SOUTH AFRICA WILL BE EXTINCT.  ONCE THEY ARE GONE, THEY ARE GONE FOREVER!

South Africa relies heavily on tourism as their commerce and without their Big Five, their economy will suffer drastically.  The Big Five consist of rhinos, African elephants, Cape buffalo, lion and leopard.  The elephants are being killed and their head completely sawed off for the tusk which is carved into trickets and sold to the public in China.  The tiger is killed for basically every part of it's body and sold in China, Asia and Vietnam.  As already stated, the rhino is killed for the horn that is then ground up and sold illegally in the black market in Asia and primarily Vietnam and China.

There is no reasonable explanation for the murder of these animals of SA.  As stewards of the planet, it is our responsibility to protect the wildlife so they can all be enjoyed for generations to come.   Someone once said "To ignore the facts, doesn't change the facts" and we can no longer ignore these facts.

With the funds from the USA, world leaders, royalty, and celebrities, one must wonder why the president of SA has not done more himself.  By deploying more soldiers to the parks, and keeping them there until this stops, it is believed that the rhinos can be saved from extinction.   In Kruger National Park alone, there have been 163 rhinos out of the 227 murdered this year thus far and the number is anticipated to reach over 1000 by the years end.  It is my opinion that the survival of these creatures lies in the hands of President Zuma who has the power to not only deploy more soldiers, but to declare a shoot-to-kill policy, enforce a no bail policy, to force the courts to bring these criminals to trial in a much speedier time frame, and to enforce tougher long term sentences.  He could also assist in the funding of security and equipment necessary for the privately owned reserves as the rhinos there have also been targeted.  Fence need to be replaced  that have been torn down around the perimeters and especially along the Mozambique border, which happens to be home to the most of the poachers.

Please help and become a "RHINO WARRIOR"  by becoming involved in this his horrific battle by signing this petition.  Spread the word through FB and everyone else you know.  Thousands  of signatures are needed to get the attention of South Africa's president. This is a global concern and people from all over the world can stand united and be the voice for these helpless creatures.  We need to let him know that the world is watching his actions and that he can do the right thing and turn this problem around.

Please President Zuma, in the name of  "Themba" who died at the greed of poachers, and his mate "Thandi" who survived, now without horns, please help put an end to this masacre.  Stop the criminals who have no respect for life, and stop them from decimating the icons of South Afica.

Letter to

Send more military into the national parks of South Africa to protect it's precious wildlife and keep them there until the killings stop. There are not enough foot soldiers to get the job done. There should be soldiers assigned on the highways that surround the parks to prevent poachers from entering gaps in the fence or creating their own. With enough good men patroling, and keeping watch in the parks your men can end this battle once and for all. We the citizens from all over the world will not give up on these animals that truly are a "national treasure".
