Today we begin a tourism boycott against Indonesia. It’s time for the government of Indonesia to take the issues surrounding animals seriously. I hope I can count on you to: 1. Watch the attached video so you can understand the message of this action. 2. Share the video on all your social media pages and any tourism, travel and animal-themed pages that you can find. It’s okay to duplicate efforts and sharing on even one other page will help. 3. Email a copy of the letter below to the President of Indonesia, the Minister of Environment and Forestry and Minister of Tourism. Email addresses provided. 5. Inspire one other person to take the above actions to help the animals of Indonesia. Some people will say that boycotting tourism will only hurt the people and animals that rely on the revenue from tourist. My response is that the animals are already suffering every day, even those that are part of the tourist attractions. And while some people don’t care about the animals, there are many in Indonesia that do. And those people are overwhelmed or powerless to tackle the corruption of the government’s inaction. They need our help. Improved standards for the animals of Indonesia will create a safer, healthier community for the people of Indonesia and an improved quality of life for the animals. It will also provide a more enjoyable experience for tourist. Thank you for supporting this important project! Expand and adopt national animal cruelty laws and regulatory practices to safeguard animals against capture, cruelty, trafficking, inhumane / inadequate housing, improper animal care, exploitation for entertainment or sexual gratification. 2. Work with reputable animal advocacy groups to achieve best standards and practices. 3. Provide adequate financial support for the strict enforcement of the new and existing laws.
