Hello! There are thousands like Bubbles where their mamas are killed and then captured, to be sold in illegal markets all over Indonesia. Many don't survive the markets where there is usually no access to water or food. Those who survive, live a tortured existence. 17% of world wildlife exist in Indonesia, yet there seems to be little pride or appreciation by the Indonesian Government to want to enforce laws to protect such a blessing bestowed upon their country. Rebecca _____________ Why I Otter... While working in Indonesia I had the honor of spending time with Bubbles. Bubbles was rescued from the illegal wild life trade, and had clearly imprinted on humans. In order to help keep him comfortable we needed to spend time interacting with him. As special as the time together was, I hope this is something I never experience again. Because to spend this type of time with a baby otter, means that there was loss and suffering for this beautiful animal. Typically the mother's of these young animals are killed, so their babies can be captured and then sold. Bubbles is now spending his time with other rescued otters in a reputable sanctuary.
