Hello! If everyone has been following my petition updates, you would know as well as seen, an Australian NGO group and their pals using my petition update as a platform to slander and attack Rebecca and I. They are also attacking our campaigns. I support Rebecca’s campaign and she supports mine, for the animals. Suffice to say that this Australian NGO continues to harass Rebecca on social media. I am sure they will continue to troll my updates. I will not feed these trolls. They will be ignored. FYI, Rebecca’s team stayed behind in Indonesia to push her agenda for the animals. They have now returned home safely. Apologies for not being able to share this with you sooner. Thanks for caring about the animals and for your support. ~P Holmes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please take a moment to read Rebecca's latest update below taken from her goFund. It’s Safe to Say… As you all know, after only four days, I was forced to leave Indonesia following a smear campaign that put me in physical danger. What I wasn’t able to share at the time, is that my team remained behind and continued pushing through my agenda. But now, since they have returned safely, I am ready to share the findings of this trip. The short version is that the animals in Indonesia, many of them endangered species, are in CRISIS. Fueled by corruption and poverty, zoos, safari parks, animal performance acts, forced photo props, pet markets and wildlife trade markets are overflowing with varying degrees of neglect, torture, abuse, and despair. Dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammals, primates, etc…many of them endangered species, are struggling in a hotbed of anguish and suffering. Poaching is rampant, the illegal wildlife trade is booming and natural habitats are being destroyed at an alarming rate. The things that I saw happening out in the open, brought me to my knees. To think of the things that are happening to these animals behind the scenes, nearly paralyzes me. I am now on a much larger mission. In future updates, I will outline our experiences in detail. I will the share personal videos and photos taken during this trip and will share the details of some amazing projects that we will be a part of. You will learn more about the otters and kittens we rescued and the amazing groups that are caring for them now. As for the Sun Bears at Bandung Zoo. They are being fed due to government intervention and so long as the government remains engaged, the animals will likely continue being fed. It’s important to note that several of the non-profit groups in Indonesia had offered to help the Bandung Zoo as things started deteriorate. But the zoo refused their help, just as they did ours. To make matters even worse, the Bandung Zoo has aligned itself with a questionable non-profit, out of Australia, who continually misrepresents the truth, which makes it difficult to know for certain, what type of help is needed. For example, prior to us visiting Indonesia, this group announced that the sun bear’s enclosure was being renovated. When my team visited the zoo, the only construction that they found was in an area designated for people. The sun bears habitat was the same, except for the fact that all the bears were locked away from public view. Look for pictures and video of this soon. This organization makes public statements implying that the animals are receiving the attention / care they deserve but they are unwilling to present valid and verifiable proof of this. The level of public contradiction, dishonesty, misdirection and libel coming from them, is astonishing. And I can’t help but wonder if the Bandung Zoo managers and the Bandung Mayor know what this group is doing / saying, while acting on their behalf. There are numerous groups and individuals ready to help the animals at Bandung Zoo but right now, because this group is acting as a gate keeper and they have misrepresented the truth, it is impossible to know what is honestly happening or what is needed. This coming week, I will attempt to connect with all related authorities, to establish what is happening at the Bandung Zoo. I will post the letters as an update so you are aware of what is being presented. The starving bears at the Bandung Zoo, the otters and kittens we rescued, are merely the tip of an iceberg of suffering that needs to be addressed in Indonesia. The problem is huge. Bigger than I ever imagined. And while it may seem overwhelming, I will remain in this fight. Soon you will see how important you are and just how much you are needed. Thank you for sticking with me. For the Animals, Rebecca ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
