Hey Everyone!
Be sure to register for the Town Hall Forum we are doing next week (Friday, 3pm eastern) with writer Matt Taibbi (Rolling Stone) , Catherine Austin Fitts (former boardmember of Sallie Mae), and Tom Borgers (Federal Investigator who led the home mortgage crisis investigation for the federal government). This will be a hard-hitting, non-partisan discussion of the student loan problem, and also the documentary that we are finishing now. It's free.
Spread the word!
I hope you are happy to see that people are now, finally, talking about cancelling student loans by executive order, including Elizabeth Warren, and soon Joe Biden. Make no mistake: this ALL started with this article in August of last year, but really what made this happen was our petition, started in March. So you should be very proud if you helped with it, regardless of whether or not we get the credit for it. We all know and that is enough.
I cannot express how important the petition is, and will continue to be for getting these loans gone!
This is our time. What we do between now and January 20 REALLY MATTERS. If we are going to actually get these loans actually gone, we need to grow the petition to a more appropriate size. The reality is that all the noise in the media right now is pushing for a very sanitized, and dumbed down version of our call. This could come to nothing if we don't push (" Up to $50,000" could mean anything, and if the Department of Education has its way, it will mean NOTHING).
What we do right now will mean the difference between partial, lame cancellation, and actually getting these loans gone.
There are 5 easy things you can do right now. They are listed on the petition. Please do them? It will help tremendously!
Best Regards,
Alan
