Diversify the Strategic Planning Committee at The University of Alabama

Diversify the Strategic Planning Committee at The University of Alabama
The Issue
The Strategic Planning Committee was originally created due to a lack of inclusivity at The University of Alabama. As explained by President Bell, the "key focus areas include graduate enrollment growth, faculty growth, diversity, research and facilities".
Unfortunately, the committee created to diversify campus does not reflect the diverse experiences of students and faculty based on race, gender, religion, sexuality, and ability.
The committee is comprised of fourteen individuals, and the breakdown includes:
-Caucasian: 11
-African American: 3
-Hispanic/Latino: 0
-Asian: 0
-Professors: 4
Additionally, SGA President Elliot Spillers, though an important part of the process, will only serve for four months before his term expires.
In order for the Strategic Planning Committee to execute its duties in achieving diversity, the committee itself must reflect the diversity it aims to achieve. We sign in agreement and demand change.
