The KWF this year started rolling out its Bantayog-Wika project, which pretends to honor Philippine languages other than Tagalog, but does so by building monuments on which a Tagalog poem is written in Baybayin, the Tagalog script - a rather curious way of celebrating a Philippine language. 

Not only does this KWF leadership deny that Tagalog and Filipino are the same language. Not only are they content with defacing the Tagalog language by shaping it to their liking. They are also intent on playing with and defacing other Philippine languages, like what they are attempting to do with Ilokano. This is their grand idea that they sold to our government, instead of investing in language schools and research institutes into each Philippine language. All that this KWF leadership has done is a waste of taxpayer money. 

They have begun to set up these Bantayog-Wika cylinders of oppression in Antique, Kalinga, Davao, Mindoro, and Ifugao. They are currently planning one in Pampanga. 

This project is funded by no less than Sen. Loren Legarda-Leviste. Therefore we call on, not only President Duterte, but also the Legislature, to stop this project together. We also call on our governors and other local government officials to resist this oppressive project and ask Sen. Legarda to divert her funding from this project toward other initiatives like language schools, research institutes, and other efforts that will ACTUALLY save Philippine languages instead of tokenizing them.
