Support Mandatory Indigenous Courses at McMaster University

The Issue

Many universities across Canada are adopting this academic policy. We believe that having mandatory Indigenous courses available at McMaster university means:

1)  Being cognizant that McMaster University is located on Haudenosaunee land; and

2)  Educating students about the concerns effecting Indigenous populations in Canada is essential in understanding relationships between Indigenous people and the rest of the Canadian population.

3)  A beginning to reconciliation according to the TRC Calls to Action.

4)  Learning how to work with Indigenous peoples in various professional sectors of society.

By signing this petition, we are signifying that we support the implementation of mandatory Indigenous Studies courses at McMaster University.
