Some disturbing posts have recently appeared on Facebook from an individual who claims to shoot and kill cats and has admitted to abusing cats. She is an undergrad student at Washington state university in Pullman Washington with hopes of being admitted to their renowned veterinarian medical program. Caitlin has been quoted as saying the following. " feral cats are destructive, and TNR does Jack shit but stop them from reproducing. Killing them out right and burning the bodies does the following. 1. Stops them from killing wildlife. 2. Stops them from reproducing. 3. Stops them from transmitting parasites to the environment. So I will quite happily go to feral colonies and BUTCHER the lot of them." " there is no other way. TNR doesn't work. Bow and arrow to the head is a quick painless way of death. Ditto for a shot to the heart or lungs. Hunters do not take pleasure in causing pain. They shoot well, and take pride in doing so. " " kill feral cats! They are huge destroyers of wildlife! We don't need rabies, toxoplasma, or any of that shit around here! " ANY FERAL CAT I SEE IN THE FIELD WILL DIE BY MY HAND. THEY WILL DIE SWIFTLY, THEY WILL DIE PAINLESSLY, BUT THEY WILL DIE." We cannot allow people such as this to enter the veterinary science field. To allow someone with this much deep hatred and loathing for animals they will be required to care for is a crime in itself. UPDATE! I have decided to send this petition to as many veterinary programs as I can throughout the country! She shouldn't be accepted to ANY vet school!! I will be compiling a list of schools and will make sure they all receive this petition with your support and signatures!
