Cancel plans to remodel Carnation Plaza Gardens at the Disneyland Resort
During the day, Carnation Plaza Gardens is a charming and peaceful area to rest and spend a few moments away from the hustle and bustle of Disneyland. But once the sun goes down, it comes alive with the sounds of good, old American swing music and feelings of nostalgia for the days of our country's finest generation.
Carnation Plaza Gardens is where the swing dances and live big band performances are held in Disneyland. If you’ve ever gotten a chance to go to Disneyland with your school band/orchestra/choir, you’ve probably had the experience of performing on the stage at the Plaza Gardens and if you haven’t had that opportunity, maybe you’ve been able to dance there or just sit and enjoy the music at night. No matter what kind of experience you’ve had at the Plaza Gardens, it was probably a good one.
The Gardens have not only been host to school performances and swing bands of today. American music legends such as Artie Shaw, Tex Benecke, and even Louis Armstrong have also graced the CPG stage with their performances.
At the D23 Expo, it was announced that the CPG are going to be turned into an extension of the already massive Fantasyland. The area will be converted into a princess-themed village where guests can meet the princesses. That means no more escape from the crowds, no more nostalgia, and most importantly, no more history. I love the Disney princesses as much as the next girl but, there are already enough places for the them to roam. CPG is a piece of history and holds a special places in the hearts of thousands. Disney needs to leave CPG the way it is: perfect.
I’m sure many of you would hate to see such a wonderful place go, so please sign this petition and hopefully we'll be able to keep a piece of history inside the park.
