Sri Chaitanya, Narayana Colleges: Students Petition For Ban

Students'Fedaration of india (SFI) -TELANGANA STATE COMMITTEE
16 FEB 2020 — Hyderabad: It seems finally the students who have studied and are studying in the popular Sri Chaitanya and Narayana colleges have reacted. They have alleged that these are not educational institutes but were breeding grounds for students' deaths. If not the students from all places, at least those who have studied and are studying in these two institutes in Telangana have come forward and filed an online petition on Change.org demanding a ban on Sri Chaitanya and Narayana institutes.

Started by STUDENTS'FEDARATION OF INDIA (SFI)-TELANGANA, this petition is addressed to PRESIDENT OF INDIA, CM K Chandrasekhar Rao and education minister Sabhitha IndraReddy And Governor of Telangana&Intermidiate Secretary of Telaqngana&Chief JUSTICE OF HIGH COURT OF TELANGANA. The letter along with the petition suggests 47 children committed suicide in 2017 due to harsh conditions they had to go through because of the institutions.

The long letter, titled 'Ban Sri Chaitanya and Narayana collages which are killing students for their profits,' has been signed by former students of the colleges too. "These corporate colleges are killing your children for the ranks," read the letter. Since it went online two days ago.

The letter also mentioned, "Students have to go through mental trauma and psychological unrest that pushing them for suicides. Nearly 18 students stay in the small single room. Only in 2017, there were some 47 students committed suicide in these two corporate colleges."

Troubled by student deaths, Andhra Pradesh government had formed a committee headed by M. Neerada Reddy to look into the matter. In its report, the committee used 'hijacked students' and 'concentration camps' to describe the conditions. One of the many suggestions of the committee was to give students recreation time. The online petition alleges none of the suggestions have been implemented by the colleges.
