Crime against women has always been a live issue in India, but it acquired a totally different kind of urgency and importance after the tragic gang-rape in New Delhi. In order to ensure that this issue doesn’t get forgotten, tangible and immediate outcomes are critical.

A recent report by Association of Democratic Reforms showed how 2 MPs and 42 MLAs have been charged with crimes against women. According to the report, six MLAs admit to have been accused of rape while 36 others admit to have been charged with outraging the modesty of women, or assault.

Through this petition we are appealing to their party leaders to urge the charged MPs and MLAs to resign from their Parliament or Assemblies before this Republic Day.

Ask 2 MPs&42 MLAs, charged with crimes against women.

A recent report by Association of Democratic Reforms showed how 2 MPs and 42 MLAs have been charged with crimes against women. According to the report, six MLAs admit to have been accused of rape while 36 others admit to have been charged with outraging the modesty of women, or assault.

While the whole nation is outraged by the recent gangrape incident in Delhi and the subsequent protests asking a series of changes to be done, we think that the political leaders of the country can set an example by asking the representatives to resign from the Parliament and State Assemblies, till the cases against them are heard and concluded.

Through this petition we are appealing to their party leaders to urge the charged MPs and MLAs to resign from their Parliament or Assemblies before this Republic Day (26th Jan 2013).
