I’m sorry that I haven’t been in touch with you all lately. The last few weeks have been very difficult for Jeffrey and I. To be honest, he’s not doing well recently -- and it breaks my heart to see him struggle so much for nothing. It’s really hard for him to face the long days separated from his loved ones, knowing that he’s wrongly imprisoned.
I’m worried for him -- and there’s only so much I can do. I’m hoping that you can help me lift his spirits. There are not many joys in prison for Jeffrey, but he does appreciate receiving and reading letters of support from people like you, who have stood with him with your signature.
Could you take a few minutes soon to send a letter or postcard to him at this address?

There’s no easy way to put it: seeing my innocent husband in prison is a terrible, daily struggle. And it’s so much worse for Jeffrey, facing each day without his freedom. You have the chance to make his life a little better each day with just your kind words.
I’d also like to share this statement that Jeffrey wrote a while ago. Given the challenges of late, I haven’t had the chance to send it to you until now:
“Every day, I ask why am I forcibly separated from my wife Holly, our family and friends; why am I in prison? I know the answer because it is born out of who I am today and who I have always been. The answer to my daily question is because through the years:
- I said “no” to discrimination at the CIA
- I said “no” to government intimidation and retaliation
- I said “no” to compromising my principles by pleading to a crime I did not commit.
All the while I was saying “yes” to doing the right thing not only for myself but also for my country.
I took a stand and followed the rules and for this I was targeted and summarily finished.
Throughout, I have thought I stood alone. I have learned differently. While I have been invisible to many, many more here in this country and throughout the world have expressed solidarity with me and the cause of justice or the struggles I have endured. Their undying support and encouragement, along with that of my incredible wife Holly inspires me to continue fighting. Thank you all.”
