Stop press: Listen to Eco-Conscious Citizens GH's Anyeley Torsoo and Awula Serwah on Class FM live on Monday Aug. 12 2019, from 9am: www.bit.ly/Class913FM
On July 31, Eco-Conscious Citizens GH's Anyeley Torsoo and Awula Serwah talked about local Green Revolution #GoGreenGhana issues with Executive Breakfast host Benjamin Akakpo on Accra's Class 91.3fm station.
One of the solutions offered by the guests was the planting of trees. This was put into practice on August 5, when Awula Serwah and her East La Environmental Group cleared a piece of unkempt land and planted palm trees.
The ECC GH ladies will be back on Class FM on Monday Aug. 12, from 9am talking about the local green issues. They will also update listeners on the round around they've experienced from the Lands Department and and Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority in their quest to be provided with a list of Accra's parks and open spaces.
Thus far, it seems like no government department actually has this information. However, they're quick to claw back land and build upon it, whenever the opportunity arises. Such as the case we heard from a gentleman who in wanting to renew the lease of his government land was informed as he had not built on much of the land, his lease would only be renewed on condition of confining him to the land immediately surrounding his house.
The rest of the land that had been purposely left green, soon had several houses built upon it. It would seem green spaces are of no interest to the government departments!
