Zorig Sanjaasuren, also known as the "Golden Swallow of Democracy", was an influential Mongolian politician that led the nation into its 1990 democratic revolution. In 1998, he was brutally assasinated at home just a few days before he was going to be announced as the next Prime Minister. Since the assassination, investigations continued for 18 years. In 2016, the district court in a closed hearing convicted three individuals Ts.Amgalanbaatar, D.Sodnomdarjaa and T.Chimgee of the 1998 murder of S.Zorig. Each defendants were sentenced between 24 to 25 years in a strict regime prison.

The Zorig case is a highly classified case and all trials related to it were held behind closed doors. Since the assassination, political leaders have used the case in various ways for political gain and vested interest. The scandalous case is often used as a way to blame or scapegoat other cases, or confuse and/or create uproar within the public. Thereby, we are signing a petition to demand for the whole case to be declassified to minimize debate, confusion and accusations related to the case.

Let's collectively demand from the Government of Mongolia to publicize the whole case so that politicians can stop utilizing it for a political show. We demand that the cases related to the Zorig case, such as Enkhbat Damiran's case, former Head of Intelligence Agency B. Khurts and Head of General Prosecutor's Office G. Erdenebat's case, to be made accessible to the public. We demand from President Kh.Battulga, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene, and Ministry of Justice Kh.Nyambaatar to declassify all documents and evidences related to Zorig's murder case. We, the people, have the right to know the truth!
