Protect Parker's Native Narrows Wildflower Garden from Destruction!

The Issue

The Nature Club was just informed of a proposed plan to destroy the student initiated and funded Native Narrows Wildflower Garden. The area outside the Parker Building would be replaced by exotics in a design similar to the rest of the campus landscaping. The Native Narrows was established three years ago during Earth Day. Students, faculty and staff all worked together to laboriously remove an invasive, exotic species (Wedelia) and replace areas of dirt and rocks with the new native landscape. The Nature Club maintains the site by hosting two cleanups per semester to remove invading exotics and trim back the lush native vegetation. The garden has become well established and is maturing nicely. Apparently however, it is not "pretty" enough and too weedy for a building entrance. Let's stand together as ONE NSU community to protect this rare and endangered urban native garden from destruction. Help prevent the needs of the few or the ONE from outweighing the needs of the many by signing this petition!
