Cancel plans for Twin Ocean Railroad Connection
The Issue
IN honour of the indigenous people of the Amazon, and on behalf of all living beings on the planet: We ask that the Brazilian and Chinese government, respectively, halt all plans and actions toward the construction of the "Two Oceans Railroad Connection between Peru and Brazil. The survival of the planet is hinged upon the coexistence of vast living networks of ecological systems- water, trees, plants, air, animals, to microscopic beings.
One cannot be treated in isolation to another. Although human rights have been granted and outlined in the U.N. declaration- animals and plants have not been granted inalienable rights. However, there is an inherent codependency in the survival and wellbeing of humans and our brothers and sisters of other species. The Chinese government has repeatedly perpetrated human rights violations against its own citizens, and the Brazilian government appears to be following suit, in showing a disregard for the lives of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.
It can be inferred that, the proposed rail connection would bring disease, suffering, and displacement, to the indigenous people of the Amazon, who have been the guardians and the protectors of the natural environment. It greatly encroaches upon free will. It can be inferred that if in the case that the rain forests were penetrated by foreign humans, it would bring disease to the indigenous people, and cause a chain of events that could threaten the survival of the entire planet and existence.
I understand that in the face of media, the respective governments are attempting to portray this proposed rail system in a positive light, and as a benevolent act, that it would expand economics and bring wealth to people. This is a narcissistic affront to the intelligence of humans that it has been afforded to. As already stated, the respective governments have exhibited a disregard for both human beings and the natural environment. The Brazilian government for example during the "World Cup" of 2014, for example- abused, and used force to displace humans from their homes, to satisfy the superficial and temporary desires of rich. The Chinese government, has executed its own citizens for practicing religion. It can be inferred and predicted that in the light of the media the respective governments would portray the construction of the railroad in the guise that it would deliver and provide for the needs of the same humans (the poor, the "lower" classes) whom they have perpetrated violations against- in any case these so called, provisions would be superfluous to the Amazonian and surrounding communities.
This proposal goes against democracy and the fundamental rights of human beings.
Furthermore, the land is sacred ground to the indigenous people, and U.N. laws of have been effectively granted to protect sacred ground.
Furthermore,The proposed rail connection violates multiple articles of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including:
Article 1, Article 2, Article 3, Article 5, Article 6, Article 7, Article 12, Article 18, and Article 30.
On behalf of all living beings we ask that: The Chinese and Brazilian governments halt actions towards the construction of the Two Oceans Railroad. We ask than any further proposals for similar constructions be prohibited.
It is undemocratic for corporate bodies to supersede and override the necessities of humans and all biological life forms in the surrounding areas where they plan construction for the sake of economic profit.
