Dear President Cyril Ramaphosa

We the communities under the jurisdiction of the Thembisile Hani, Dr JS Moroka and Elias Motsoaledi municipalities, representing traditional authorities, civil organisation, youth formations and the business forum and the regional taxi associations demand the following:

The immediate implementation of the Moloto Rail Corridor comprising of the following:

13 new train stations;
Taxi Feeder routes and Taxi Ranks in the identified main train stations;
Completion of the un-tolled Dual 67km Carriageway from Mable Hall to Moloto;
Transfer of the Gauteng portion of the Moloto Road to SANRAL and the immediate construction of this portion of the road;

We also demand the unbundling of the R573 PUTCO contract to local operators.

President, the provision of all these services must be guided by the principle of BBBEEE, local economic empowerment, beneficiation and job creation.

We also demand that all the promises to our people through the Presidential Siyahlola visit and subsequent COGTA programmes in our region to be implemented immediately. These includes amongst others the provision of water and sanitation to our drought stricken region.

President to ensure that our communities do not wait for another decade, three feasibility studies on the Moloto Rail has been done before and millions spent.

The Previous Presidents and Ministers of Transport has presented on the Moloto Rail Corridor in the State of the Nation Address, Departmental Budget Votes and even the matter been debated in Parliament. The time to talk is now over, we now demand action from our government.

Our people have been patient for a very long time and they have ran out of patience!
