Expel Yachad from the Board of Deputies

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

Yachad was inextricably involved with this obscenity in London last week. Their Youth & Students Outreach Worker publicised it and both he and their Deputy Director signed up for the event. 22 of the 49 (45%) who said they were going to the event also signed the Yachad letter lambasting the Board of Deputies’ Gaza statement.

Yachad was admitted to the Board of Deputies in 2014 by a vote of 135-61. But the outgoing President Jonathan Arkush voted against their admission (as did I). (It was before Mr Arkush became President).

Subsequent events have proved that admitting Yachad was a terrible mistake. The Board’s Constitution requires it to ‘Take such appropriate action as lies within its power to advance Israel’s security, welfare and standing’. Mourning terrorists who wish to maim and murder Israeli Jews – not just Jews, all Israelis – obviously violates that provision.

Now - at the beginning of the new triennial - is the time to put that right.
