According to Urbandictionary.com, the word "politics" is derived from the words "poly" meaning "many", and "tics" meaning "blood-sucking parasites." Oxforddictionaries.com goes further in stating that a politician is a person who acts in a manipulative and devious way, typically to gain advancement.
It is unconscionable therefore to give these politicians 270 million pesos (or U$6.2 million) of tax-payers money each year when all they do is debate among themselves and legislate how to suckle more fat from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), popularly known as Pork Barrel.
The pork barrel is the magnet that attracts the unscrupulous to join politics so they could enrich and perpetuate their families to power. The quest for more power thus creates political dynasties which in turn breed more corruption.
The pork barrel is the bargaining chip that the executive branch of government needs “to bribe” and keep the lawmakers in tow. By not scrapping the pork barrel, President Noy Aquino is showing to his “Bosses” (the people) that political expediency is the route to take in arriving at his promised “Daang Matuwid” (the straight or righteous path) which in actuality is the short-cut road to condemning the people to poverty.
WE THEREFORE URGE YOU, PRESIDENT AQUINO, SENATORS & CONGRESSMEN TO TURN AWAY FROM BEING POLITICIANS AND BECOME STATESMEN OF THE HIGHEST ESTEEM…SCRAP THE PORK BARREL NOW IN ALL ITS FORMS AND NAMES!!! JAIL ALL PLUNDERERS AND STOP CORRUPTION IN ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT!!!
- President of the Philippines
HE Benigno S. Aquino III
