Extradition of Walter Palmer,DDS, from USA to Zimbabwe
The Issue
Justice for Cecil The Lion
The gruesome and illegal killing of Cecil, a 13-year-old male lion, who resided in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, horrifies IDA.
American dentist Dr. Walter Palmer, accompanied by Zimbabwe hunters, lured Cecil outside the perimeters of the Zimbabwe sanctuary, which protected him. Palmer used another dead animal thrown on top of his car to entice Cecil into unprotected territory. Palmer then shot Cecil with a crossbow, leaving him to suffer for nearly 40 hours from the wound before killing him with a rifle. The big game trophy hunter then skinned Cecil’s body, cut off his head for a trophy, and left his remains out to rot.
Professional hunters Theo Bronkhorst and Honest Ndlovu, both accused of assisting Palmer in Cecil’s murder, appeared in court today on poaching charges. If found guilty, the two Zimbabwe men could face up to 15 years in prison. Meanwhile, Palmer, who so brutally killed Cecil, remains unquestioned and without charges by authorities.
We, the undersigned, demand that Dr. Walter Palmer be sent to Zimbabwe, to be tried and punished by their laws, since he was in the country where he committed this atrocity.
Dr Palmer, full knowing who Cecil the Lion was, intentionally lured him out of park limits to kill him; not only did he kill him, but found great pleasure in allowing that animal to suffer for 40 hours with a crossbow wound, before finally shooting him.
The final disgrace was skinning and beheading that magnificent and majestic animal,
Dr. Palmer set the hunt up, he put it in action, he paid for the death of Cecil, without regard for his cubs and mate, who will surely be killed by the next head of the herd.
His only regret is getting caught,;never thinking his actions through..so now, his family is homeless and threatened. because of him, because of his actions, because of his total disregard and respect for any and all living thing
His actions demand justice, they demand he go back to he country he committed his crime in. The United States would accept no less than extradition
The only way we are going to stop this brutalization of elephants, rhinos, big cats, bears, protected and not protected alike, is not just putting protection and laws in place, but.enforcing them.
