After 10 years of war and a devastated economy, the American people need a foreign policy that focuses on diplomacy, not military intervention. Similar to the case of Iraq where we were misled into a tragic war, we are going down the same dangerous path by accusing Iran of developing nuclear weapons. Iran has continuously submitted to intrusive inspections, above and beyond what is required by Nuclear Weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). None of these inspections have found any proof that Iran is developing a nuclear weapons program.
Despite this lack of evidence, a covert war on Iran is already under way. The U.S. government is funding opposition groups, flying spy drones over their territory, building up a military presence around their borders, and imposing devastating sanctions on the country that hurt the the Iranian people much more than the government.
We call on you to use diplomacy -- not crippling sanctions and threats of military intervention -- to deal with Iran. Don't take us down the same path as past leaders did in Iraq.
