On Sunday night, during a segment on mandatory minimum sentencing, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver brought up my mom's case. They showed a clip of her talking about her life sentence and how all she wants is to be at my graduation. Unfortunately, that clip was from 8 years ago. She was never able to see me graduate.
