Tuition and Fee Refund for Campus Services Not Provided Due to COVID-19

Tuition and Fee Refund for Campus Services Not Provided Due to COVID-19
Why this petition matters
Due to the obvious circumstances regarding COVID-19, San Diego State University has sensibly transitioned to an online learning platform. While this is a necessary decision that ensures the safety of SDSU's students and faculty, as-well-as the adjoining San Diego area, students have subsequently lost much of what was expected and included in San Diego State University's tuition and fees, which include resources, services, and amenities.
Additionally, students are not receiving an interchangeable quality of education and educational experience, which were promised and therefore expected upon their commitment to the university.
This diminution in education quality, loss of imperative resources and amenities, and abrupt financial strain borne by students through the COVID-19 pandemic is why we are compelled to request fee reimbursement with regard to the following amounts, as-well-as an undecided and reasonable reimbursement of tuition, which may be negotiated at a later date, for Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020 semesters (all of which to the extent paid by the applicable student). We additionally request an equal reduction in tuition and fees for Spring 2021 or any and all future semesters that will not respect the academic expectations as promised to students prior to COVID-19.
Both undergraduate and graduate students were/are required to pay the following fees for the Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 semesters:
Student Body Association Fee: Spring 2020 - $35, Fall 2020 - $35
Student Body Center Fee: Spring 2020 - $237, Fall 2020 - $237
Health Facility Fee: Spring 2020 - $25, Fall 2020 - $25
Health & Wellness Fee: Spring 2020 - $150, Fall 2020 - $205
Library Services Fees: Spring 2020 - $25, Fall 2020 - $25
Instructionally Related Activities Fee: Spring 2020 - $199, Fall 2020 - $244
Student Success Fee: Spring 2020 - $213, Fall 2020 - $218
In addition to these mandatory fees totaling between $884 - $989 a semester, we expect a reasonable and fair amount, to be negotiated at a later date, refunded from our tuition for the Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020 semesters, (all of which to the extent paid by the applicable student) as-well-as equal tuition and fee adjustments made to any future semesters under these same circumstances, including Spring 2021.
A lessened quality of education should be met with lessened tuition. Please sign and share this petition to support San Diego State's exploited college students!
