Preserve Woodford Academy's Current Structure for PK-6th Grade

The Issue

As a community deeply rooted in tradition, we have seen how Woodford Academy has nurtured thousands of students since its inception. This institution is not just a school; it's a legacy passed down from generation to generation. It is personal to us because it represents the wildcat pride and dedication to excellence that our children grow up with. However, there are potential plans to reconfigure Woodford Academy to service middle grades, which we believe is premature.

Woodford Academy has been successful in providing an arts and culture focus for students from pre-kindergarten through 6th grade. This unique approach fosters creativity, enhances cognitive development, and contributes positively to children's overall academic performance. We fear that changing the current structure may disrupt this beneficial environment.

We are not alone in this belief. Our community - from students and staff members to families and community leaders - stands united in support of preserving Woodford Academy as it currently exists.

We call upon decision-makers at the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education to reconsider their plans for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond. Let us continue nurturing our young scholars at Woodford Academy with an arts-focused curriculum that caters specifically towards their developmental needs. Woodford Academy is home to a rich diverse community of learners across our district including the largest population of students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the largest population of students with Autism in units (5 total including a PK Autism Unit) and inclusion models in Pre-School. We are a place for all learners.

Please join us by signing this petition if you too believe in preserving the legacy of Woodford Academy as an institution focused on fostering growth through arts education for PK-6th grade students.
