When my family first moved to Urbana, we were drawn to the lush greenery that surrounded us. I grew up playing in sprawling fields, many of which are now swiftly disappearing. The last remaining patches of green, particularly the space around our community library, are more than just land; they represent a vital part of our community. However, current proposals aim to transform this small piece of nature into additional housing. The resulting congestion will not only disrupt our cherished outdoor library events but also encroach upon one of Urbana's few remaining natural areas.

We are not against development, but we firmly believe that progress should not come at the expense of community spaces that bind us together. We urge local development authorities to reconsider their plans and reflect on the far-reaching impacts this construction will have on our community.
