I've been a steadfast volunteer at  Young's Run Disc Golf Course in Warren, OH devoting hundreds of hours to its upkeep, even obtaining a grant in 2021 for basket replacements. However, due to budget cuts across the Trumbull County our beloved disc golf course is at risk of closure. This decision does not sit well with our community and stakeholders that see it as more than a recreational site.

Young's Run Disc Golf Course, established in 1996, is one of the oldest disc golf courses in Ohio, situated in the irresistible environs of Clarence Darrow Metropark. Every year, it hosts around five tournaments and a variety of leagues, attracting thousands of players. In fact, it was played around 5000 times in 2024 alone, demonstrating its popularity and value.

The budget of the Trumbull County MetroPark  is already one of the smallest across all departments in the county. Any further reductions seriously threaten the existence of recreational facilities like our disc golf course, thereby shrinking the opportunities for physical activity and community gatherings in the county.

We appeal our voices to the Trumbull County, Ohio commissioners. Keep the Young's Run Disc Golf Course open. Recognizing its cultural value and the crucial outlet it provides for residents is paramount. Encourage investment in our metro parks system rather than diminishing it. Let's work together to save our disc golf course and protect the leisure spaces that truly make Trumbull County unique. Please sign this petition to join the fight.
