Preserve the Tranquility and Natural Beauty of Simpsonwood Park

Preserve the Tranquility and Natural Beauty of Simpsonwood Park
The Issue
As residents of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, our group, "Friends of Simpsonwood" is deeply concerned with the expected changes to Simpsonwood Park. The beauty of this passive park functions as a sanctuary where man merges seamlessly with nature, providing countless visitors with a respite from the urban sprawl. The park's unique tranquility and charm are at risk due to the impending decisions of the Simpsonwood Steering Committee, a group not truly representative of local residents.
It's time to protect Simpsonwood Park's character and the community's voice. We demand the dissolution of the Simpsonwood Steering Committee as designated by Gwinnett County, and the formation of a new committee comprised of Peachtree Corners residents who are nominated and elected by their fellow citizens. This ensures that those who truly care for the park can have a say in its developing fate.
Further, we ask that any future development adheres to specific guidelines meant to maintain the park's beauty and tranquility. These include:
- A maximum of two bathroom locations on site
- The exclusion of a playground
- No additional pavilions
- Minimal use of bridges and boardwalks — only when essential and without disturbing the existing trees.
- All trails remain natural and free of pavement and gravel as this is essential to keeping the quiet beauty of the park intact.
Simpsonwood Park is a cherished cornerstone of Peachtree Corners. Its beauty, distinctiveness, and the serenity it provides to the community should not be compromised by overdevelopment or decisions made without proper community representation. We urge everyone who cares about preserving the unique beauty and character of Simpsonwood Park to sign this petition.
