The Issue

Hello, I am Brayden Cain. I am 14 and go to Penn-Trafford High School. Immediately, I would like to say that even if you are not anywhere near here, I would appreciate a signature so that this will get pushed to more people on the Change.org website. As a concerned resident of Harrison City, Pennsylvania, I am writing this petition to express my deep concern and opposition to the proposed construction of a Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange in our peaceful community. This issue is personal to me because I have witnessed firsthand the beauty and tranquility that defines our town.

Harrison City is not just another dot on the map; it is a place we call home, where families have built their lives for generations. It is a sanctuary for wildlife, where deer roam and birds sing in the trees. The proposed turnpike interchange threatens all of this.

The potential consequences are alarming. Firstly, constructing an interchange would result in significant habitat destruction for countless species that call Harrison City their home. The loss of their natural habitats would disrupt delicate ecosystems and endanger local wildlife populations.

Moreover, introducing such infrastructure would inevitably bring an influx of noise pollution into our once-quiet community. The constant rumble of traffic and honking horns will shatter the peace we cherish so dearly.

Increased traffic volume also poses serious safety concerns for both residents and commuters passing through our town. With more vehicles navigating unfamiliar roads, accidents are bound to occur more frequently, putting lives at risk.

Additionally, let us not overlook how this proposed turnpike exit could attract unwanted attention from commercial enterprises seeking opportunities along major transportation routes. This could lead to increased development pressure on our small-town charm, forever changing its character.

To protect what makes Harrison City special – its untouched natural beauty and serene atmosphere – we must stand united against this ill-conceived plan by PennDOT (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation). We urge PennDOT officials to reconsider their decision-making process and prioritize preserving the unique qualities that define our beloved community.

By signing this petition today, you join me in sending a clear message: We demand that PennDOT halt any plans for a Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange in Harrison City. Let us preserve the serenity of our town, safeguard our wildlife, and ensure the safety and well-being of our community members.

Together, we can make a difference and protect what we hold dear. Sign now to save Harrison City from the irreversible consequences of this proposed turnpike interchange!

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Brayden Cain
