Petition updatePreserve the Ridgefield Waterfront

Exciting update and a call to action!

Hello, changemakers!

We have an exciting update!

If you haven't already heard, the Port has decided to delay signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the developer, Palindrome Communities, for one full year. This additional time will allow the Port to engage more deeply with the community and carefully consider what residents want for the future of our waterfront.

This is great news and a meaningful sign that the Port has seen and heard our concerns. Thank you for all of your efforts as this would not have happened without your support.

However, this is only the beginning. Now more than ever, it is important that we continue providing feedback to the Port and hold them accountable to their commitment to listen to the community.

While keeping the waterfront exactly as it is may not be a realistic option, the more specific we can be about what we DO want to see, the better.   Being specific and realstic with our vision is how we can truly influence this project.

CALL TO ACTION!

The Port will be holding a meeting this week, and we are asking as many supporters as possible to attend.

At this meeting, the Port will outline its plan for community engagement throughout the summer. The feedback gathered during this process will help inform decisions about the waterfront's future development.

There will also be an opportunity for public comment. We encourage everyone to attend and share their perspective. What does the waterfront mean to you? What do you envision for its future? What would best serve our community and preserve the heart of the waterfront we love so much?

Meeting Details

Wednesday, June 17, 2026

6:00–8:00 p.m.

In person: 101 Mill Street, Ridgefield (upstairs conference room)

Virtual: Via Zoom (link TBD)

Please note: The virtual option is for observing and listening only. If you wish to participate interactively or provide public comment, please attend in person.

In addition, a local resident has created a community poll and hopes to present the results at Wednesday's meeting. This will provide the Port with valuable information and would give them a place to start so please take a few minutes to complete it before Wednesday afternoon:

Finally, please continue sharing this petition - let's push hard the next couple days and get as many signatures before Wednesday! We will be submitting the signatures for the public record at Wednesday's meeting, and every signature strengthens our collective voice.

Thank you again for your support, your participation, and your commitment to our community.  This has been a wonderful reminder that there is power in numbers and that we CAN make a difference!  We are so encouraged by the progress we have made so far and we will continue to see it through.
